History
2008  
  • At the end of April, the Chinese color TV industry announced its overall annual industry evaluation, at which TCL won four awards, namely, ¡°Annual Award for Internationally Successful Digital TV in China¡±, "Annual Award for LCD TV", ¡°Annual Award for Green Health Product" and "Consumers¡¯ Favorite Color TV Brand.
  • After the Wenchuan Earthquake on May 12th, TCL Group and its 60,000 employees worldwide donated a total of over RMB10 million in cash and supplies for earthquake relief work.
  • On November 12th, TCL Corporation signed an agreement with the 16th Asian Games Organizing Committee, becoming the Official Partner of the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games.
  • On December 9th, TCL and Intel signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Beijing. The two sides announced that they would join hands to develop the next-generation Internet television and collectively promote the full integration between Internet and television.         
  • On December 22nd, the first TCL LCD module was delivered from assembly line, marking that the Chinese color TV industry, represented by TCL Corporation, had made a key step forward in establishing the core competitiveness for the emerging flat-panel television sector and implementing the overall upgrading transformation of the industry.
2007  
  • TCL launched its new brand strategy, giving the TCL brand the new meaning of "The Creative Life".
  • TCL Group announced a restructuring program for all member businesses operating under the TCL flag,through which the management of the group would be shifted to an investment holding management model. A"4+2"business structure was introduced.
  • The brand value of TCL passes the RMB 40 billion mark for the first time to reach RMB 40.136 billion, an increase of nearly RMB 4 billion, making the firm the "number one brand in the domestic TV production industry".
2005  
  • The sales volume of TCL color TV sets ranked first place in the world.
  • TCL Group and Toshiba Corporation ("TCM") signed the Memorandum of Understanding to establish two companies; a manufacturing company specializing in the manufacturing of refrigerators and washing machines, and a sales company mainly in sales.
2004  
  • TCL Group was listed at Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
  • The biggest global color TV corporation, TTE CORPORATION (abbrev TTE), jointly-funded by TCL and Thomson in France, successfully opened.
  • TCL Communication Technological Holdings Limited Company was listed on the main market of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong.
  • TCL Alcatel Mobile Phone Limited Company (TAMP) went into operation.
2003  
  • Merged with US based GO-Video Corporation through capital operation.
  • TCL and Thomson Company of France joined forces to restructure their color TV and DVD businesses, forming a color TV enterprise with an annual production volume of 18 million.
2002  
  • TCL ranked No. 6 among the most valuable brands in China. The brand was valued at RMB18.8 billion
  • TCL mobile phones sales volume reached the 3rd largest in the China market amongst both domestic and international brands.
  • TCL¡¯s Germany subsidiary Schneider Electric began full operation in Munich.
2001  
  • The sales volume of TCL Mobile Communication Co. reached 1 300 000 sets with sales income up to 3 billion.
  • A new management model was adopted along with a virtual organization structure. Multimedia Electronics Group was organized by amalgamating resources of TV and AV and other household appliances.
1998  
  • The Package Agreement on Authorized Export Seller¡¯s Credit Line of RMB 2 Billion was signed between the Import and Export Bank of China and TCL, which provided TCL with financial support to explore the overseas market and enhance its competitiveness.
  • Establishment of TCL Hyper Power Batteries Inc.
1995  
  • TCL Telephone was honored as the "China Telephone King" by the Market Economic Research Institute, Development & Research Center of State Council.
1994  
  • Launch of the first cordless telephone product in China.
1993  
  • TCL extended its presence into the electrical components field and then set up TCL International Electrical Appliance (Huizhou) Co., Ltd.
  • TCL Electronics (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. was established.
  • Listing of TCL Telecommunication Equipment Co., Ltd. on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
1992  
  • Successful launch of TCL brand big-screen color TV on the domestic market, and introduction of the CIS system which made TCL one of the first state-owned enterprises in China to introduce the CIS system.
1989  
  • TCL telephones ranked first among telephone producers in terms of sales volume in China (continued until the present day).
1985  
  • Incorporation of TCL Telecommunication Equipment Co., Ltd., a joint venture with Hong Kong investor.
1981  
  • Incorporation of TTK Household Electronic Appliance Co., Ltd., a joint venture with Hong Kong investors, and one of the first 12 joint ventures in China to manufacture cassettes.
1980  
  • Huiyang Electronic Industrial Company was set up on the basis of Huiyang Electronic Department of Machinery Bureau, thus starting the early establishment of a business
