Men's AFL Grand Final 2022

The men's AFL Grand Final is perhaps the largest event on the Australian sports calendar.

This year, the AFL Grand Final once again returns to its traditional venue at the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground). Having spent the last two years being hosted interstate, Victorians will be warmly welcoming the event back home.

The game will also be returning to its traditional afternoon 2:30pm time slot. The 2020 Grand Final hosted in Brisbane, and the 2021 Grand Final in Perth were both twilight matches.

The Grand Final will kick off at 2.30pm AEST on Saturday 24th September, 2022. AEST (or Australian Eastern Standard Time) is relevant for Victoria, NSW, ACT, Queensland, and Tasmanian viewers. For South Australia and Northern Territory viewers kick off will be 2:00pm local time, with 12:30pm local for Western Australia.

2022 AFL Premiership Favourites

At the beginning of the 2022 season, Melbourne were a solid favourite following their 2021 Grand Final win last year. Claiming the Premiership against the Western Bulldogs after a 57-year drought saw them hot-out-of-the-gates at the start of this season. Unfortunately, some hard losses at more recent matches, including to the new favourites Geelong, saw them step down the table.

Geelong were runner ups to Richmond in the 2020 AFL season Grand Final. This year has seen consistent play with some great wins (especially against Melbourne) over recent weeks. If their form continues, Geelong look like coming out on top of the table.

The third contender for favourite for the 2022 AFL Premiership are the Sydney Swans. The Swans have played well this year, with some notable hiccups. One unfortunate standout was their loss to Essendon, who are well down the table.

Women's AFL Grand Final

Just a quick note; whilst men's AFL currently has more followers, the Women's AFL is quickly gaining great popularity. This year's Women's AFL Grand Final was played between Adelaide and Melbourne at Adelaide Oval on the 9th April.

Adelaide managed to beat out Melbourne by 13 points for a great win. Be sure to watch out for the Women's AFL Finals next year.

How to watch the men's 2022 AFL Grand Final

Congratulations if you are one of the lucky ones who manage to grab a ticket to the game. Hopefully we'll see one of the 100 thousand plus crowds that makes the MCG such a great sports venue.

Good luck to the favoured few, however, the majority of us will be watching on TV or other devices. Viewers this year are estimated to be over 35 million people worldwide. For best viewing, it's a great opportunity to watch the game on a large screen TV. (We highly recommend the 98-inch TCL C727 television or our 75"-85" TVs from the P735, C735, C835, or C935 ranges).

Channel 7 is this year's broadcast partner for the Grand Final, as they have been for many of the season matches. The game should also be streaming live via the 7Plus app.

Unfortunately, if you don't get a chance to see the game broadcast live, Channel 7 will not be doing replays. For replays of the match, plus additional features and commentary, you can get a subscription to Kayo. Similarly you can catch older matches for both the men's and women's

AFL through Kayo.

A Kayo subscription costs $25 per month for viewing on a single screen, through to $35 per month for three screens. All content is streamed in both SD (Standard Definition) and HD (High Definition) quality.

Enjoy the big day!

Whichever teams make the final two, and whichever team you barrack for, it's always an exciting day of football. Gather your mates, turn on the telly, and cheer yourself hoarse for your chosen team to win.
