Soccer is the most watched sport in the world. Known only as "Football" in many countries, in Australia we call it soccer to separate it from NRL and AFL. It attracts well over half a billion viewers worldwide, and that’s not just via streaming or TV.

In Australia, soccer wasn’t supported as much in the past. As the years go by, however, it has gained in popularity and picked up a big following. The A-League attracts viewers from all states.

The Australian A-League teams

The A- League consists of 12 teams, with a fair distribution in each state. For NSW they include, Sydney FC, Newcastle United Jets, Western Sydney Wanderers, Macarthur FC, and Central Coast Mariners.

Teams such as Melbourne Victory, Melbourne City FC, and Western United FC are based in Victoria or the city of Melbourne itself. Covering the rest of Australia we have Perth Glory located in Western Australia, Adelaide United for South Australia, and Brisbane Roar for sunny Queensland. New Zealand is also represented in the league with the Wellington Phoenix club.

With regard to the Australian clubs, TCL and Melbourne Victory share a special friendship. TCL are Premier Partners with the club, and have been since 2016. They look forward to supporting Melbourne Victory FC to further championship wins.

Melbourne Victory are a strong and proud team with a great history. They have won a total of four league titles, two FFA Cups and three A-League Premierships. Currently, Melbourne Victory are in strong form and making their way to the top three again.

International Soccer (or is that Football?)

The European Leagues/ Competitions have a substantial amount of viewers worldwide, including in Australia. The top five European leagues watched in Australia are the English, Italian, German, Spanish, and French leagues. Competitions such as the Europa League and Champions League are also some of the biggest played competitions in Europe, and flow into the Australian eye.

Soccer/Football is also extremely popular all across South America. The Conmebol Copa America may be one of the oldest competitions around the world, and it is still played till this day. Its competition draws upon national teams all over South America, including Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay, just to name a few big names in the competition.

TCL are also Official Sponsors of the Copa America competition. The partnership began in 2019 and has been extended again this year. Unfortunately last years' competition was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, however, we look forward to some exciting football this year.

Streaming most other soccer competitions such as the A-League will require subscription to Paramount+. Best TCL Viewing Experience

We love big screens for watching sports, and the TCL C735 Series 98 inch TV is currently the biggest in TCL's lineup.

The huge 4K resolution screen features Quantum Dot technology and Full Array MiniLED for incredible colour, contrast, and brightness. Clear motion Rate (CMR) 200 ensures high refresh rate and reduces motion blur during fast sports play. The audio will keep you in-the-moment with Dolby Atmos and Onkyo Audio speakers.

Alternatively, you can try the new and amazing 4K C935 Series television, or watch your football in glorious detail with the 8K resolution C925 Series.

If you love your sports, check out the current range of TCL televisions in-store or online at your local retailer.
