TCL Announces Partnership with CONMEBOL Copa América Brasil 2019
São Paulo, February 21, 2019 - TCL, top three global television brand and leading consumer electronics company, announced that it will become the regional partner of the CONMEBOL Copa América Brasil 2019, the world’s oldest international continental football competition and one of the most influential football championships, held from June 14 to July 7 in five Brazilian cities.
TCL’s partnership with the 46th edition of the Copa América, which will be played by South American football teams including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela, and two guest teams from Asia, Japan and Qatar, will come into effect from February 21, 2019 to December 31, 2019. It is TCL’s latest collaboration in its stellar series of well-established, extensive sponsorship programs, showing its passion to connect with growing sports communities and fulfilling its commitment to global consumers. This partnership follows its recent collaboration with the Brazil National Football Team.

As the official partner of the tournament, TCL will also enjoy brand exposure via pitch-side adverts, referees’ uniforms, and VAR equipment, as well as extensive promotional activities across online, social, mobile and offline channels. In addition, TCL will exclusively provide industry-leading TV products across all venues, allowing football fans to enjoy a high-definition, immersive viewing experience.
To reach out to more football fans, TCL will roll out a series of co-branded marketing activities with the CONMEBOL Copa América Brasil 2019, including launching co-branded products, TV commercials, souvenirs, among other initiatives in designated markets. The company will also host official site activations across all venues, where football fans can experience TCL’s diversified smart products and enjoy promotional discounts. Furthermore, it will launch give-away campaigns to give football fans the chance to win tickets to the competition.

TCL appointed Brazilian football superstar Neymar Jr. as its global brand ambassador in early 2018, and together they have inspired a creative life for global consumers with smart products and services. The company also entered into a partnership with the International Basketball Federation (“FIBA”) in June 2018, which is set to push the brand closer to younger consumers with the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 this year.
The company’s other global sports partners include the Brazilian Football Confederation (Brazil), Rosario Central Football Club (Argentina), soccer team San Jose Earthquakes, NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx, the Philippine Basketball Association (Philippines). It also works with entertainment industry partners including Hollywood’s TCL Chinese Theatre and The Ellen Show.

TCL maintained a robust growth in 2018. The company’s overall LCD TV sales volume rose by 23.1% year-on-year to 28.61 million sets, exceeding the full-year target of 28.30 million. In overseas markets, its LCD TV sales volume rose by 29.5% year-on-year to 18.21 million sets, contributing over 60% to the overall sales volume. In the North American market, TCL continued to consolidate its leading position and climbed to second place in terms of sales volume in the third quarter and November in 2018, according to the latest NPD market research report. In the emerging markets, including South America, the company also maintained its fast growth.
In addition, according to a report by research firm Sigmaintell, TCL ranked second globally in terms of shipping volume in 2018.
