FAQ

What is an air-to-water heat pump?

The air-to-water heat pump is like a super-efficient heater that works  like a refrigerator but in reverse. It captures free energy from the air outside to heat your home, making it a greener replacement for fossil fuel-powered heating systems that most people in the EU currently use to heat their homes.

An air-to-water heat pump is considered energy-efficient as it can provide more heat energy than the electrical energy it consumes. This makes them a highly efficient, renewable, and sustainable way of heating, cooling, and providing domestic hot water.

How does an air to water heat pump work?

① Evaporation: The evaporator is the place where the refrigerant and outdoor air exchange heat, turning the refrigerant from liquid to gas as it absorbs heat from the air.

② Compression: After evaporation, the refrigerant enters the compressor, which compresses it into a hot, high-pressure gas for the condenser.

③ Condensation: The condenser is the place where the refrigerant and water exchange heat, turning the refrigerant from gas into liquid as it releases heat to the water.

④ Expansion: After condensation, the liquid refrigerant flows through an expansion valve, reducing pressure and turning it back into vapour, and then goes into the evaporator for the next cycle.

Will a heat pump save money?

Yes! For every unit of electricity the heat pump uses, it can generate up to 4-5 more units of heat. That's like getting a free heater that's 4-5 times more powerful than the energy you put in! Compared to traditional heat sources such as electric radiators, boilers, etc., heat pumps can use less energy to achieve the same heating results, helping you save money.

Can heat pumps work in cold weather?

Yes! TCL heat pumps are designed and manufactured with the highest quality components, and have been rigorously tested to ensure that even in extremely cold environments (as low as -25°C) the heat pump can continue to provide a steady supply of warmth for your home.

Are heat pumps noisy?

No! TCL heat pumps are designed with advanced noise-reduction technologies, including insulated compressors and low-noise fan systems. A TCL heat pump operates as quietly as 35 decibels at 3 metres - quieter than a typical conversation or a household fridge. This makes them ideal for residential settings without disrupting you or your neighbours daily life.
