Why can't I send messages, make calls, or use video calls?

If the messaging, calling, or video calling features on your child's smartwatch are not working, please follow the steps below to identify and resolve the issue.

Step 1: Check the Basics first

  1. Power & Restart:

  • Ensure the watch is charged and powered on.

  • Restart the watch. This can solve many temporary software issues.

  1. Network Connection (Cellular & Data):

  • Check for Airplane Mode: Ensure Airplane Mode is OFF.

Step 2: Verify SIM Card and Network Plan

  • Check if the SIM card is properly inserted and activated.

  • Check if your phone bill has been paid.

  • Check if your network plan include data.

Step 3: Review App and Watch Settings

  • Check the "Contacts" or "Friends" list: Ensure your number and other family numbers are correctly added. The watch can only call or message members that have been authorized and added to this list.

  • Check Function Permissions:

    • Make sure your watch is paired with the TCL Connect app.

    • In the TCL Connect App, ensure that chat and camera permissions are enabled in the TCL Connect app. Go to Settings > User Permission in the app. Enable the chat and camera permissions.

  • Check App Notifications Permission (For Messages):

    • On the parent's phone, go to System Settings > Apps > TCL Connect App > Notifications.

    • Ensure notifications are allowed. If the app cannot receive notifications on your phone, you may not get messages from the watch.
