[Berlin, August 30, 2018] TCL, top three global television brand and leading consumer electronics company, unveiled its new artificial intelligence (AI) TV offerings at IFA 2018 in Berlin, including TCL's first 8K TV, the TCL 8K QLED TV – FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Edition, the TCL QLED TV X8, the UHD Smart TV Cityline Series C7 and a new premium product line featuring exceptional design, the Living Window series.
The expanded range of AI-powered products is part of TCL's efforts to build a smart home ecosystem that provides consumers with a simple, personalized life experience, underpinning its commitment to making people's lives more intelligent.
The new products launched at IFA incorporated TCL's latest 8K and QLED display technologies and support various smart functions powered by Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, allowing people to easily enjoy entertainment, find information, plan their day and control smart home devices with simple voice commands. In addition, TCL's new Living Window series also combines AI with modern design to add style to the home.
"At TCL, we continuously invest in products and technologies that make people's lives more intelligent,” said Tomson Li, Chairman and CEO of TCL Corporation. “Our efforts in driving innovation, especially in incorporating AI technology into more of our products, will sustain our continued, strong worldwide growth. In the first half of 2018, we once again experienced strong business growth and hit a five-year record high," he added.
The TCL 8K QLED TV – FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Edition is TCL's latest flagship QLED TV. Boasting world-class picture quality, the 75-inch TCL 8K QLED TV is a customized edition from TCL's global partnership with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). Made for global sports lovers, it is TCL's first TV employing 8K display technology with ultra-high definition resolution of 7,680 x 4,320 (33.2 megapixels). It uses Quantum Dot display technology that supports a wide color gamut of 157% BT.709, and its 1,000 nits peak brightness and an 832-zone local dimming display solution enables precise backlight control to provide the best HDR viewing experience. It also supports Dolby Vision HDR imaging technology, the industry's highest-level of visual technology, delivering better, ultra-vivid picture quality with colors never seen before on a standard screen, incredible contrast, brighter highlights and darker colours.
The TCL 8K QLED TV – FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Edition comes with a best-in-class sound system. It features hardware from Onkyo, a world-leading premium home theater and audio equipment provider, and Dolby Atmos immersive audio technology that allows viewers to feel as if they are part of the story with sound that flows above and around them. Furthermore, to improve the user experience, it supports an integrated AI soundbar that enables the sound system to work independently when the TV is turned off. This allows users to easily find content via voice control with the help of the remote microphone that is part of the built-in, intelligent system.
With its minimalist design, the TV is just 20mm at its thinnest point, making it one of the thinnest 75-inch direct backlight products in the industry. This is achieved thanks to breakthroughs in the backlight structure which reduce the optical distance to 8mm. Together with its full-screen design and the soundbar embedded in the base, viewers can enjoy an improved viewing experience with a wider screen and better sound quality.
In andition, Frank Leenders, Director General of FIBA Media and Marketing Services, shared details about the exciting sponsorship with TCL and expessed his hopes for the future.
The QLED TV X8 is TCL's latest 4K QLED TV featuring Quantum Dot display technology that supports a wide color gamut of 157% BT.709. The TV's Quantum Dot display lasts up to 60,000 hours without fading, allowing viewers to enjoy striking colors for longer. The set supports Dolby Vision HDR imaging technology that delivers stunning picture quality. It won the “Display Technology Gold Award” by IDG and GIC/AHK at IFA 2018.
The X8 also comes equipped with an industry-leading sound system, featuring hardware from Onkyo and sound technology supported by Dolby Atmos immersive audio. Its integrated AI soundbar allows consumers to access its sound system to find the content they want without turning the TV on, through simple voice controls via the intelligent built-in system.
The X8 has a minimalist design, with its thinnest part measuring just 7.9mm. The adoption of full-screen design offers a wider viewing angle and the soundbar embedded in the base also provides a better sound experience for users. The X8 is available in 75, 65 and 55-inch models.
The TCL Cityline Series C7 has a curved full-screen and is a UHD smart TV with a modern feel, for people who prefer refined and tasteful living. The C7 features a separate sound system powered by AI, which allows it to work independently.
The C7 comes with Dolby Vision HDR technology, which offers ultra-bright, vivid picture quality and a Dolby Atmos sound system which, together with a 360-degree soundbar design powered by Harman Kardon, boosts the TV's acoustic volume and sound quality, delivering an immersive audio experience. The remote microphone, part of the embedded smart audio system, enables users to easily find content via a simple voice control.
The TCL UHD Smart TV Cityline Series C76 (55DC760 Model), the European version of the C6, which recently won the “Best Buy LCD TV 2018-2019” award from EISA, was launched in Europe this month.
The newly-introduced TCL Living Window series is aimed at sophisticated consumers who love culture and art. It offers the perfect fusion of beautiful designs and AI technology, seamlessly blending into any personal aesthetic.
The Living Window is a 4K QLED TV that features hardware from Onkyo and has superior picture quality delivered by Dolby Vision HDR and superb audio supported by the Dolby Atmos immersive audio. The series comes in four models - Art Deco, Abstract Beauty, Modern Simplicity and Oriental Elegance, each reflecting design concepts inspired by Art Deco, Cubism, Piet Mondrian and Oriental art, respectively.
