As a global consumer electronics company, TCL has long shaped everyday life through displays, devices, and connected solutions. As mobility becomes increasingly intelligent, this way of thinking naturally extends beyond the home. When the vehicle becomes another touchpoint within the same ecosystem, a new question emerges: what should everyday travel feel like?
At Consumer Electronics Show 2026 in Las Vegas, within the TCL NXTHOMETM exhibition area, TCL unveiled the TCL AUTO Smart Cabin System, a future-facing in-vehicle concept built around the Human · Vehicle · Home vision. Drawing on TCL’s strengths in display technology, AI, and connectivity, the Smart Cabin explores how everyday travel can become a natural extension of connected living, seamlessly linking people, vehicles, and living spaces.

Design Expression
Flowing Tech Gallery × Vivid Frame
From a distance, the Smart Cabin appears as a low, quiet volume, present without demanding attention. As visitors move closer, its silhouette resolves into an open, architectural frame that can be read at a glance. Taking an inside-out approach, the fluid, dynamic exterior sculpture conveys ease and a confident stance, with the exterior reading as an extension of the interior colour and light, symbolising a blurred boundary between human and AI.

A simple design principle guided the concept from the outset: in-vehicle technology should be visible and understandable, not hidden behind layers of metal and glass. The structural layout, therefore, emphasizes openness, with generous cutouts on the front, rear, and sides. This allows the entire cabin to be read in a single view, immediately revealing how technology integrates into everyday routines. The design explorations below trace this evolution, from early ideas to the final Smart Cabin form.

Developed in collaboration with BMW Group Designworks Shanghai Studio, the exterior form adopts a low, aerodynamically minimal profile with visually light proportions and seamless, subtractive surfacing. Large transparent areas soften the boundary between inside and outside, turning the cabin into a Flowing Gallery of Technology, a moving exhibition of TCL’s Human · Vehicle · Home ecosystem. Inside this frame, a circular “Star Ring” portal, a floating wing-like instrument panel and a slim central island organize the interior as a light, connected piece of digital furniture.

Interior Atmosphere
A Calm, Human-Centered Cabin
Inside, the tone shifts to Luxury Minimalism: fewer elements, stronger visual order, and comfort shaped through proportion, tactility, and layered materials rather than excess.

The CMF palette combines a calm base of off-white, establishing openness and visual comfort, with Twilight Purple flowing across spatial layers as a warm, emotional accent. Alcantara, the renowned premium material, is applied selectively on key touchpoints, such as the center armrest, steering wheel and headliner, enhancing comfort where the body naturally interacts with the cabin. Wool-blend seat fabrics, warm wood veneer along the console, and discreet brushed-metal details further ground the digital environment in a material language that feels refined, human, and quietly premium.
Rather than overwhelming the senses, the interior is designed to reduce visual noise, allowing technology to recede into the background and support a more relaxed, lounge-like experience.

A Gentle Presence
AI, Made Approachable
Set within the circular “star-ring” portal on the centre console, the most characterful element of the cabin a comes into view: a compact in-car robot designed by TCL’s design team. With a soft textile body and a glass-like expressive face, and its carefully framed position within the floating console, it adds a tactile, empathetic emotional layer to the space otherwise minimal digital furniture around it.

Rather than competing for attention or interfering with driving, the robot is conceived as a calm, peripheral presence, an approachable AI interface that supports front-row interactions and offers gentle companionship for rear passengers. Its role is not to overwhelm, but to make intelligence visible, understandable, and emotionally accessible, allowing users to gradually build familiarity and trust over time.

Behind the scenes, a high-performance in-car platform enables ultra-low-latency, multi-screen collaboration. A panoramic head-up display, central and passenger displays, a ceiling display, and a dedicated smart control interface are composed as a single visual field rather than isolated screens.
For visual performance, in-car displays utilize TCL’s Mini LED technology to deliver a premium, consumer-grade viewing experience optimized for extended use. The in-cabin tablet integrates TCL NXTPAPER eye-comfort technology, offering low-glare, soft visuals suitable for longer reading or interaction sessions. Surrounding these layers, adaptive AI interaction, immersive peripherals, and real-time safety perception quietly support the journey, while vehicle-to-home IoT connectivity positions the cabin as a mobile digital hub within a broader living ecosystem.
