BUSINESS STRATEGIES IN 2018

AI-focus Technology Strategy

One of the latest trends in the TV industry is “making smart intelligent” – ie, turning smart TVs into intelligent TVs. In line with this trend, TCL plans to focus on artificial intelligence (AI) with a belief that AI represents the future of TV.

TCL is leading the industry to offer artificial intelligence to enhance all aspects of viewers’ entertainment experience. Realizing the multi-dimensional interactions between users and their television, TCL’s approach is designed to solve issues such as difficulties in obtaining content and the lack of interconnectivity among smart products. By continuing to collaborate with industry giants such as Google and Baidu, TCL’s AI-focus technology strategy offers users direct access to personalized content. Alongside the latest Google Android operating system, TCL is bringing the interactive operations, content services and application capabilities of smart TVs to a whole new level.

In addition to AI, TCL is also investing significantly in QLED technology, 5G, big data and other cutting-edge technologies.

Upgrade of Vertical Integration

As the only Chinese TV brand with complete vertical integration, TCL continuously seeks to improve the level of vertical integration in the TV industry.

In November 2017, TCL-owned Shenzhen China Star Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd (CSOT), which now ranks fifth worldwide for LCD panel shipments according to Display Search, announced the roof sealing of the main building of the “G11”, the highest-generation panel production line in the world. With an investment of USD 7.09 billion, the G11 is expected to commence operations in March 2019, with a monthly production capacity of 90,000 sheets of glass substrate.

Connecting TCL’s Global Community

TCL is connecting with its ever-growing global community via a series of sports and entertainment marketing activities. The latest partnership, with Warner Bros. Pictures’ popular superhero movie Justice League, was announced in November 2017. A new, global sports partnership is expected to be announced this year.

In Europe, the company notably engaged in its first sponsorships, supporting the Berlin Marathon in September 2017, and launched its first national TV advertising campaign in France in 2017.

TCL will be showcasing its product portfolio at its booth at #12929 in the Central Hall at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show, January 9-12 in the Las Vegas Convention Center.
