If you want to connect your Android or iOS smartphone tablet and game consoles to your TV, there are several ways to go about it. This article will explain the ways of doing this and help you decide which option is best for your needs.
Chromecast is a video streaming device that plugs into your TV's HDMI port. You can stream content from Netflix, Hulu Plus, YouTube and other services to the TV via Chromecast. Once you've installed the Google Home app on your Android device, all you have to do is tap the Cast button in any video app and select Cast Screen / Audio to start casting it.
Miracast is another wireless display standard that works between devices using Wi-Fi Direct technology (the same way Wi-Fi Direct works for file transfers). To use Miracast with your Android device or tablet, make sure both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and then launch an app that supports this feature in one of them—for example: Netflix or Google Play Movies & TV on the mobile device side; Plex Media Server or VLC in computer mode. You'll be able to see everything playing on whichever screen has been selected as output (or both if desired).
You can also wirelessly connect your iPhone or iPad to your TV.
To stop mirroring on your iOS or iPadOS device, visit Control Center, select Screen Mirroring, and then select Stop Mirroring or use your TV remote to select Menu.
In addition to the various methods outlined above, if you own a TCL Smart TV, you have the advantage of utilizing integrated features like screen mirroring and Airplay that cater specifically to TCL users. Here's a step-by-step guide to maximizing these functionalities:
Prepare Your Devices: Ensure your TCL Smart TV and Android device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Enable Screen Mirroring on Your TV: On your TCL TV, navigate to 'Settings' and select 'Connected Devices.' Choose 'Screen Mirroring' and ensure it's set to 'On.' Start Mirroring on Your Smartphone: On your smartphone, access the 'Settings' menu, tap on 'Connection & sharing,' and select 'Cast.' Look for your TCL TV in the list of available devices and tap to connect.
Enjoy Your Content: Once the connection is established, your smartphone or tablet screen will be displayed on your TCL TV, allowing you to enjoy apps, photos, or videos on a larger screen. Leveraging TCL Google TV Airplay:
Check Compatibility: Confirm that your TCL Google TV supports Airplay (a feature predominantly available on TCL models supporting Apple ecosystems).
Connect to Wi-Fi: Like with screen mirroring, both your iOS device and TCL Google TV must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
Access Airplay on Your TCL TV: On your TCL Google TV, access 'Settings' and navigate to 'Apple AirPlay and HomeKit.' Make sure Airplay is turned on.
Begin Airplay from Your iOS Device: Swipe to open the Control Center on your iOS device, tap 'Screen Mirroring,' and select your TCL Google TV from the available devices. Enter Passcode if Required: If prompted, enter the AirPlay passcode displayed on your TV screen into your iOS device to establish the connection.
Stream Your Content: Once connected, you can share photos, videos, and even mirror your entire iOS device screen on your TCL TV. By following these straightforward steps, you can optimally use your TCL TV's unique features to get more enjoyment out of your viewing experience.
Connecting your device to your TV with a cable is the easiest way to do it, but you need to have the proper hardware. You’ll need a cable that has the right type of connector on each end and the correct port types on both sides.
You also need to be sure that your TV has an HDMI port, which will allow you to send video and audio signals together in one cable. This is important because connecting via HDMI allows for digital audio transmission instead of analog, which results in better sound quality.
Now, if you have the following items, you are good to give it a go:
Simply plug the adapter into your phone and plug the HDMI cable into it to connect to your TV and watch from your phone.
The simplest way to set up your Xbox One is to connect it to your cable or satellite set-top box with an HDMI wire, and then to your TV with another HDMI cable. The Xbox One console only supports HDMI as a video output.
If you don't see anything on your TV screen, try connecting the HDMI cable to a different port on your TV. If that doesn't work, try a different HDMI cable.
The PS4 is able to play content from attached USB drives, however it is unable to wirelessly connect to your TV. Either an HDMI cable or a mini-HDMI to HDMI converter are required for this (if your console has been upgraded).
Place a portion of the HDMI cable into the PlayStation 4's HDMI OUT port on the back. Place the HDMI cable's opposite end into the HDMI input of your display device. Connect the power cable to the PlayStation 4's AC IN port on the back. Once both are connected, turn on your PS4 and TV, then select the correct input on your TV (you'll need to know how many ports are available). Then start playing games!
