Think of your refrigerator as a magic box that can make things cold. It does this by using a special liquid called refrigerant that can change from a liquid to a gas and back again really easily.
The refrigeration cycle starts with the compressor, which is like the engine of the refrigerator. It takes in the refrigerant gas and squeezes it really tightly, which makes it very hot.
The hot gas then moves into the condenser coils, which are like a maze of pipes on the back of your fridge. As the hot gas flows through the coils, it starts to cool down and turn back into a liquid. This is where the heat is released from inside the fridge to the outside air.
Next, the liquid refrigerant moves through a small hole called the expansion valve. When it comes out the other side, it's suddenly much colder and turns back into a gas.
The cold gas then flows through the evaporator coils, which are like a maze of pipes inside your fridge. As the cold gas moves through the coils, it absorbs heat from inside the fridge and makes everything cold.
Finally, the gas goes back to the compressor to start the cycle all over again.
So that's how the refrigeration cycle works! The compressor squeezes the gas, the condenser coils release the heat, the expansion valve cools the liquid, and the evaporator coils absorb the heat to make things cold.
