Berlin, 4 September, 2017
TCL, one of the largest consumer electronics companies in the world, has been honored by International Data Group (IDG) and German Industry & Commerce Ltd (GIC) with the “Quantum Dot Technology Gold Award,” a 2017 IFA Product Technical Innovation Award, for its XESS Series Private Theatre X6 85-inch TV.
As one of the world’s largest and most influential trade fairs for consumer electronics and household appliances, Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin (IFA) is an important opportunity for companies worldwide to display their products. The IFA Product Technical Innovation Award is attributed by a professional and impartial panel of judges, on the basis of product design, functionality and innovative features.

“We are thrilled to receive this award, in recognition of our ongoing commitment to the TV industry and our innovative QLED TV,” declared Zhang Shaoyong, General Manager of the TCL Multimedia Product Center. “We remain focused on harnessing the power of new technologies, such as Quantum Dot, to deliver a whole new standard of intelligent entertainment experience."
Leading the company’s line-up of IFA Award-winning products is TCL’s QLED flagship XESS Private Theatre X6, which won the “Quantum Dot Technology Gold Award.” The supersized, 85-inch XESS Private Theatre X6 offers a premium, immersive visual experience with its world-leading Quantum Dot display technology, picture processing ability and Dolby Vision™ high-dynamic-range (HDR). Leveraging the HDR technology that powers Dolby’s most advanced cinemas around the world, Dolby Vision transforms the TV experience in the home by delivering greater brightness and contrast, and a broader palette of rich colors. At just 24.8mm wide, the XESS Private Theatre X6 is one of the thinnest, supersized TVs and the thinnest of those above 80 inches that apply local dimming technology.

Jennifer Xu, Vice President of IDG Asia, said: “This year, the IFA Product Technical Innovation Award is about Intelligent Technology. ‘Smart’ has become a key word in the pursuit of the next generation of cutting-edge consumer products. TCL’s XESS Private Theatre X6 offers a combination of beautiful hardware and state-of-the-art technology and delivers the latest, exciting breakthroughs that consumers have been waiting for.”
These latest wins follow a number of other TCL product awards bestowed earlier this year. These notably include the iF Design Award 2017 for the X2, TCL’s Android QLED TV from the company’s flagship XESS series; EISA “Best Buy 2017-2018” awarded last month to TCL’s C70 55-inch TV; and the Red Dot Award for Product Design for TCL’s C70 series.
