It was another weekend and another excellent stop on the Wendy’s Tailgate Tour. Clemson visited Virginia Tech this past Saturday and battled it out in front of a sellout crowd of fans wearing mostly maroon at Lane Stadium.

Leading up to the game, Clemson had dominated Louisville in another highly-anticipated matchup. The second-ranked Tigers were heading into the game with a perfect record, which included three victories over top-15 teams. Virginia Tech was also coming into the game undefeated and were looking to make the most of their home field advantage. With momentum on both sides, this matchup promised to deliver plenty of action for all in attendance!

As game time approached, the TCL eSports Lounge kept eager fans entertained with Xbox gameplay, exclusive giveaways, and even a special appearance.

Centrally located in Hokie Village, Virginia Tech’s Fan Zone adjacent to Lane Stadium, the lounge attracted more than 1,000 pre-game revelers. Fans crowded around TCL Roku TVs to try their luck on Madden NFL and Rocket League, among other popular game titles.

TCL Game Time t-shirts proved to be very popular with fans – perhaps no surprise since they featured the maroon and burnt orange beloved by diehard Hokies. But these t-shirts also served as the perfect canvas for autographs when former Virginia Tech defensive end, and Pro Football Hall of Famer, Bruce “The Sackman” Smith stopped by the TCL eSports Lounge to relax and greet fans.

As the tailgating fun came to a close, thousands of fans flooded the stadium for the highly anticipated game. The Tigers led 17-3 at the half and despite a late touchdown in the fourth quarter by Virginia Tech, Clemson ultimately cruised to a 14-point victory, topping the Hokies 31-17.

Follow us for more college football action as we head to our next tailgating stop, when Pitt visits Syracuse on 10/7.
