Air Conditioners need regular service and maintenance. Even then, occasionally, due to factors that are beyond your control, like a rodent chewing you duct wires, air conditioners will need repairs or replacements or both. Depending on the problem, only a part of it may need to be replaced or in extreme cases, the entire unit needs to be replaced.
But there are a lot of questions and ambiguities around a warranty.
How long is it?
What does it cover?
What voids the warranty?
Here are the typical questions on warranty:
1. What’s the duration of warranty?
Different manufacturers have different warranty periods. Typically, an air conditioner provides service for 10-15 years. Your warranty should ideally cover at least most bits of this period.
The TCL iEco Air and Smart Air Air conditioners come with a 5+10 years warranty. That's 5 years on PCB, 10 years on the compressor and 1 years on the complete machine,.
The Turbo Air Conditioner comes with a 3+10 years warranty. That's 3 years on PCB, 10 years on the compressor and 1 year on the complete machine.
The compressor is really the heart of the air conditioner. It is responsible for moving the refrigerant between the evaporator and condenser coils, ensuring that the refrigerant changes to gas or liquid as needed
2. What are the components on your warranty?
There are some typical components that come with every warranty. They are:
● What’s the warranty terms and conditions?
● To whom the warranty will be covered? For example: If you buy the air conditioner, then the warranty is covered. But if you resell it, then is the warranty transferable?
● A detailed description of what's included and not included in the warranty.
● What are the exceptions to warranty?
● When is it void? Example: Is your warranty void if an “authorised technician” does not install it?
● What are your rights as a consumer in case the warranty is not honored?
3. What’s a PCB warranty?
PCB is a printed circuit board.
A PCB warranty ensures a very high quality product without any failure. Most consumers, when they buy an air conditioner , are concerned about energy bills and maintenance costs of an air conditioner. The PCB warranty covers all of that.
TCL comes with a 5 year PCB warranty in iECO, Smart and 3 years PCB warranty for Turbo.
4. How do you reach your Manufacturer?
When you purchase an electronic product, do understand what is the process to reach out to your manufacturer to record a complaint or request a service or even installation. It’s important that the brand that you have purchased makes it easier for you to reach them whenever the need arises.
